Jeffrey A. "Jughead" Poling, 62, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.  Born in Gas City, Indiana, Jeff was a son of the late Richard Poling and Barbara Blackburn.  Jeff was an honorable, standup guy, devoted husband, great dad, awesome grandpa and a reliable friend.  Jeff was all about service to others. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT Since the age of 18, and worked for 18 years as a Allen County Confinement Officer.  He loved being outdoors with nature, hunting deer, fishing, was a classic car guy, and loved animals.  He was an avid archery buff and was the Indiana 2000 Indoor/ 1999 Outdoor Archery state champ.  Simply put, "Jeff was a wonderful man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends."  Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Melinda Poling; sons, Chase (Rina) Poling, Cody (Alexis Hershberger) Poling; grandchildren, Oliver and Lyra; siblings, Kelly Poling, Rodney (April) Blackburn; step-father, Russell Blackburn; niece, Kati (Tim) Yahner; nephews, Josh Poling, Hadyn Blackburn; and his two dachshunds, Tucker, and Tinker.  Service will be 6 pm, Friday, September 1, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 2 pm until the service.
