Jeannie Shaffer Lemert, 66, left behind the pain of this earth and ran into the arms of her family in heaven on June 28, 2026. God, in his perfect timing, reunited Jeannie with her eldest son, Roy, on the 15th anniversary of his passing.
Jeannie was born to John “Jack” Shaffer and Marilyn Ward on October 8, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio. After moving to Fort Wayne, Jeannie graduated from Harding High School. In 1983 while working at Seyfert’s Foods, Jeannie, then a single mom to son Roy, met the love of her life, Paul Lemert. The three became a family, marrying on February 14, 1986. They soon welcomed son Cole, followed by son Tyler. In later years, the family was joined by nephew and niece Chris Mitchell and Kayla Solomon.
Jeannie stayed home with her children, taking them to numerous school and sports activities. She also started working from home as a consultant for Mary Kay, rising to the rank of sales director. She was the recipient of several pink cars and awards to mark her accomplishments during her 30+ year career. She mentored and coached many team members who became her beloved extended family.
In 1999, son Roy was critically injured, resulting in his becoming quadriplegic. Jeannie became full-time caregiver, keeping him home with his family until he passed in 2011.
Jeannie was known as a giving, kind and caring woman. She always looked out for her friends and family, stepping up to provide assistance when it was needed. But she was also strong and fiercely determined, and she was generous with her time and talents.
She had a special heart for her dachshunds Baxter, Brody and Berkeley, who were always by her side and miss her greatly.
Jeannie loved to shop, travel, and spend time with her friends and family. She was a Cookie Cottage cookie fan and enjoyed eating out. She loved sitting by the pool, and she adored spending time being Nana to granddaughters Hunter and Hazel.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul Lemert; son Cole (partner Amber and her daughter, Alisa) of Dunkirk, Indiana; son Tyler (Megan and granddaughters Hunter and Hazel); siblings Julie, Johanna, Joetta and John Shaffer; sisters Linda and Tammy; in-laws Ginny Lemert of Fremont, CA, Bonnie Lemert of Henderson, NV, Randy and Connie Lemert; Bert and Doree Lemert, Susan and Paul Zimmer, John and Marty Lemert, and Brian and Angie Lemert; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
