Obituary

Jeanné Margaret Wickens (Curry), 57, of Roanoke, IN, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on January 28, 1967, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Paul and Charlotte Curry (Coles), Jeanné lived a life defined by love, generosity, and a deep sense of community. A 1985 graduate of Delton Kellogg High School, Jeanné went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University, followed by a Master of Science in Management from Purdue University. Jeanné and her husband made countless memories traveling the world, where Jeanné delighted in exploring local cultures, finding hidden gems like ice cream shops and boutiques. She loved spending time with family and brining joy to others with her kindness and thoughtfulness. Professionally, Jeanné was a leader in healthcare administration, serving as the senior vice president and chief financial officer at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, IN, from May 2016 until her passing. Her career was marked by dedication, excellence, and a desire to make a difference. Before Parkview, she served as a CPA with Ernst & Young, controller and director of finance for Battle Creek Health System, and senior vice president of finance, strategy, and CFO for Allegiance Health. Jeanné's impact extended far beyond her career. She was an active board member for numerous organizations, including Huntington University, Turnstone, United Way of Allen and Jackson Counties, and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership's Economic Fund. Her unwavering commitment to community service earned her many accolades, including the prestigious CFO Top Honoree of the Year for 2023 by the Indianapolis Business Journal. Outside of her professional achievements, Jeanné was known for her warm spirit and generosity. She loved Christmas and took great joy in giving, from angel tree families to sharing DeBrand chocolates with friends. She was happiest making others smile. Jeanné also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, teaching them how to bake, and playing with her beloved huskies. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Curry; her mother, Charlotte Morehouse; and her stepfather, Clark Morehouse.
