Jeanne E. Britten, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jeanne was a daughter of the late Willard and Mildred (Kelly) Britten.
Jeanne began her education at Central Catholic School and later graduated from North Side High School. During her working years, she was employed in the automotive manufacturing industry.
To know Jeanne was to know her love for the Fort Wayne Komets. She was a lifelong and devoted fan who had not missed a game in over 15 years. Hockey season was more than a pastime—it was an event. Family members often joked that game days were a “crazy train,” but it was a tradition that brought Jeanne tremendous joy and created countless memories with those she loved. Win or lose, she was always cheering on her Komets.
Jeanne also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved relaxing by the pool on warm summer days, her Yorkies, feeding the wildlife around her home, and starting her day with a Starbucks coffee in hand. Whether she was spending time with family, visiting with friends, or proudly showing off a fresh hairstyle and her bright smile, Jeanne had a way of bringing warmth and energy wherever she went.
Above all, Jeanne cherished her family. She loved being a mother and grandmother, and the time she spent with her grandchildren brought her some of life's greatest happiness. Her love, laughter, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her longtime companion and fiancé, Robert “Bob” Shank; son, Brian (Melissa) Britten; grandchildren, Andre “A.J.” Britten and Guen Britten; sister, Carol (John) Whitacre; along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Dennis Britten, Richard Britten, and Marla Curry.
Calling will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. A graveside service will follow at Catholic Cemetery.
