Obituary

Jeanette Divine Wilt, 81, passed away peacefully on her birthday, September 29, 2023 in Fort Wayne. She was born September 29, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan to Arthur and Helen (Fritz) Divine. Jeanette moved to Toledo, Ohio as a young girl where she stayed until 2008 before moving to Auburn to be closer to family. She married Richard Wilt, Sr. on January 29, 1990 who preceded her in death in 2007.

Surviving are a son, Bill (Luanne) Haley of Auburn and a daughter, Denise Lechleidner of Auburn and David Moak who was like a son to her. Also surviving are two stepsons; George (Dee) Wilt of Martinsburg, WV and Richard (Mindy) Wilt Jr. of Adrian, MI. She was preceded in death by her brother John Divine, son Mark Haley, and stepsons Chris, Scott and Bryan Wilt.

Surviving grandchildren are Nathan (Melissa) Haley of Melbourne FL; Aaron Haley of Auburn, IN; Haley (Cameron) Selent of Johns Island, SC; Kendra (Dylan)Liddell of Grand Rapids, MI; and Jesse Evans of Nevada; Reese (Jade) Wilt of Tecumseh, MI; Ryan (Destinee) Wilt of Jackson, MI; Austin (Brianna) Wilt of Fairchild, AFB, WA and Allison Wilt of Adrian, MI along with 9 great-grandchildren.

Jeanette attended Central Catholic high school and spent her working years as a clerk with Food Town stores in Toledo. Jeanette was a very caring and loving person. She was always the first to take in lost or abandoned animals. Over the years, Jeanette had many pet dogs and even a pet squirrel who she would feed on her front porch. Jeanette generously supported the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Humane Society and DeKalb County Humane society. Jeanette loved to cook for her family and spend time playing cards and games. She also loved to shop and was an avid coupon clipper.

A celebration of life will be held in Laingsburg, MI on November 3, 2023.
