Obituary

Jason Clinton Byerly, 42, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 12, 2026.

Born on October 31, 1983, Jason lived a life defined by love, laughter, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to the people he cared about most.

Jason is survived by his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Harris, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen Byerly; his father, Rick (Connie) Byerly; his brother, Derek (Frank) Byerly; his sister, Heather (Alex) Scheckel; his sister, Nikki (Corbin) Holmquist; his father- and mother-in-law, Karl and Lisa Raupfer; his brother- and sister-in-law, Ben (Chelsea) Raupfer; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Caiden, Isla, Willow, Cooper, Caitlin (Walter) Holmquist, Brooke (Hunter) Holmquist, and Wyatt.

He is further survived by Ashley’s extended family, many of whom loved him as a grandson, son, brother, and friend. He also leaves behind countless friends who became family over the years and whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

Jason was preceded in death by a baby lost through miscarriage; his grandparents, Wendell “Wimp” and Mariellen Byerly and Karl and Edna Rudolph; his godmother, Diane Pecnik; and his childhood best friend, Matt Anderson.

Jason possessed a remarkable intellect and an extraordinary gift for business. He was endlessly curious, driven, and passionate about growth and success, inspiring those around him to dream bigger and work harder. Yet despite his accomplishments, what people will remember most is how he made them feel.

An avid chef, Jason had a knack for turning even the simplest meal into something special. Whether he was creating an elaborate dinner for his girls or preparing unforgettable meals during weekends with friends, food was one of the many ways he showed his love.

One of the greatest joys of Jason’s life was being Harris’ dad. Their shared humor, playful banter, and special bond were beautiful to witness. In so many ways, his quick wit and vibrant personality live on in her. He loved fishing and cherished passing that love on to Harris. Some of his happiest moments were spent near the water, teaching, laughing, and making memories with her.
Though Jason hated being the center of attention, he somehow always became the life of the party. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and unmatched storytelling ability could leave an entire room doubled over in laughter. Whether recounting childhood memories or the latest adventure with friends, he had a way of making every story unforgettable.

Jason was kind, genuine, and deeply caring. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need. He had a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and the impact he made on others will continue long after his passing.

To know Jason was to love him. He was the kind of person who made life brighter, laughter louder, and friendships stronger. His impact on the lives of those who knew him cannot be measured.

We truly lost a great guy, and he will be missed tremendously.
