It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Janet Herbst of Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 6th, 2024 at the age of 84.

Janet was born on July 30th, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Dwight and Helen (Kuhn) Barker. Janet was known for her strong will, fighting spirit, and love for her family and friends. She will be missed by many. Janet spent the last 5 years of her full life at Lutheran Life Villages of Pine Valley where she enjoyed many new friendships with staff that felt like family. We are grateful for the loving care she received.

Preceded in joining the Lord: Father and Mother, Dwight and Helen Barker; brother, Jerry Barker; and son, Jeffrey Herbst. Janet is survived by her sister, Beverly Dennison of Bend, Oregon; daughter, Michele Anger (Tim) of Huntertown, Indiana; and son Matthew Herbst of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 11:00 am at Lutheran Life Villages/The Village of South Anthony Chapel, 6701 South Anthony Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46816.
