James W. "Gene" Porter, 86, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022. Born in Columbus, Mississippi, Gene was a son of the late Ephraim and Elois Porter. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. During his working years, he was a machinist and landlord. Gene loved the outdoors, playing euchre and spending time with his family. He was a member of Abundant Life Church. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Joyce Porter; children, Tim (Sharon) Porter, Cammy (Mike) Fox, Keith (Karrissa) Porter; grandchildren, Travis, Trenton, Landon, Austin, Jerrod, Jason; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Mae and Gabriel James will soon be here. Gene was preceded in death by his 5 brothers, and 1 sister. Service is 1 pm, Friday, March 4, 2022 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 11 am until the service. Burial in Butler Cemetery, Butler, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Church.
