James Sheppard Lofback, 74, died peacefully at home on October 4, 2023. He was born on April 25, 1949 in Torrance, California and later moved to Melbourne, Florida with his family. His love of the ocean in Florida became his passion. This passion inspired him to learn to surf and work as a lifeguard for many years. He later served his country with honor in Vietnam while he was in the United States Navy. James graduated from Brevard Community College and received an Associate of Arts degree in Business after he came back from Vietnam. His favorite hobby was learning about muscle cars and attending car shows. This hobby eventually became a dream job when he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to work for Adesa Car Auction until he retired. His move to Indiana also later included being reunited with his former college sweetheart, Fride Irving. It was such a nice surprise for both of them to find each other again after 37 years. James was a very kind and thoughtful person who will be greatly missed by friends and family. He touched our hearts in so many ways and we all will cherish the memories we created with him. James was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Virginia Lofback. He is survived by his brother, Kendrick Lofback of Sebastian, Florida and loving companion Fride Irving of Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA in his honor. A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
