James C. Jordan Jr., 97, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, James was a son of the late James Sr. and Ida Mae Jordan. James served our country proudly during WWII while in the U.S. Navy. James attended Hume-Fogg vocational school in Nashville Tennessee majored in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Fort Wayne Indiana with Virginia Annette and their 7 children in 1967. He was an senior engineer for General Telephone/Verizon for over 30 years, prior to his retirement. James had a green thumb and loved to garden and grow anything, especially Mexican Sunflowers and Elephant Ears. He would take his vegetables and donate them to the St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. James was a very talented and detailed painter with several pieces in the African American Museum. He took his attention to detail into his other passion of carpentry. James was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Surviving are his children, James (Elaine) Jordan III, Roy (Josette) Jordan, Ida Harris, Nancy Jordan, Virginia Barnes; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruby Jean Stephenson, Doris Bias, and Cora Arkle. James was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Virginia Annette Jordan; daughters, Mary Griffin, Helen Jordan; siblings, Mildred, and David Jordan. Service is 5 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services with calling from 3 pm until the service. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
