Rev. James R. "Jim" Johnson, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Jim was a son of the late Harold and Eva Johnson. Jim earned his degree from Fort Wayne Bible Institute. Jim served and pastored with Missionary Churches in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana spanning over 50 years. He was on staff at First Missionary Church serving as visitation pastor and director of senior ministries. Outside of his church responsibilities, Jim enjoyed woodworking and refurbishing antiques. During Covid, Jim and his family had an outreach singing program named: Hymns with Jim. Jim is survived by his children, Joel (Diane) Johnson of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jeffrey (Nancy) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Jana (Leon) Wanner of Ossian, Ind., Jim E. (Laurie) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Judd (Becky) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Jere (Stacey) Johnson of Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, John Johnson, and Sarah Johnson. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Johnson in 2015; grandson, Luke Robert Johnson; and sister, Clara Johnson. Service is 11 am, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Grabill Missionary Church, 13637 State Street Grabill, with calling one hour prior. Calling also on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Central Region of the Missionary Church.
