James C. Hilgemann, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born to the late James Albert Hilgemann and Betty J. (McKown) Godschalk in Fort Wayne on December 30, 1942. He was a life-long Fort Wayne resident and graduated from Concordia High School. James married Sue Upole in 1972. He dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1973. He was a member of the Southeast Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Fort Wayne. James retired from Slater Steel after 39 years. He loved history, reading, street rods and car racing.
James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sue Hilgemann; children, James P. (Kimberly) Hilgemann, Sherry (Joshua) Kline, and Daniel (Birgette) Hilgemann; grandchildren, Morgan, Connor (Renee) Hilgemann, Elias and Owen Kline; sister, Sarah Doehla; and host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Joellyn Krauskopf and son, Thomas Hilgemann.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (11181 State Rd 37, New Haven, IN 46774) at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior.
