Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James Paul Baldwin Jr., known lovingly to all as Jimmy, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on September 28, 1973, in Fort Wayne, IN, Jimmy lived his entire life in the city he called home, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

After graduating, Jimmy channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding his own painting company. After years of success in that venture, he transitioned into the automotive industry, where he thrived. He spent much of his career as sales manager at Preferred Auto before joining O'Daniel Automotive Group, where he finished his career in car sales. In 2021, Jimmy was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a battle he courageously fought for the last five years of his life. Despite his determination and strength, the disease ultimately contributed to his passing.

Jimmy was, above all else, the life of the party. His contagious laugh and hilarious stories could fill any room, and his kind soul drew people to him effortlessly. He would do anything for his family and friends, and his generosity knew no limits. His daughter, Kylie, was the light of his life, and the pride he felt for her was evident to everyone around him. Jimmy loved the outdoors, whether he was spending time at the lake, hitting the ski slopes, or enjoying a round of golf. Sundays were sacred, reserved for gathering with family to cheer on the Chicago Bears. He was a man of faith and gave back to his community by volunteering as an addiction counselor through AA, helping others find the strength he knew they carried within.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Lois Baldwin; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Jacqueline Feldheiser; and his beloved stepfather, Kenneth Groves.

He is survived by his daughter, Kylie Baldwin; his mother, Cathy Groves; his father, Jame Baldwin (Liz); his sister, Jodie Swaney (Bret); his brother, Adam Groves (Michelle); his nephews, Foster Swaney, Cade Swaney, Braden Groves, and Cameron Groves; and niece, Aubrey Soper; along with many other close family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Your family will miss your uplifting presence and laughter. May you rest in the peace of the grace of our Lord.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. with calling two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lyme Disease Foundation or Humane Fort Wayne Shelter. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.fairhavenfortwayne.com
