Obituary
Herbert R. Chandler, 89, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023. Born in New Haven, Herbert was a son of the late Robert and Thelma Chandler. Herbert graduated from Central Catholic High School. He worked for Falstaff Brewing for 38 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Herbert took up running and entered into several marathons after the age of 50. He enjoyed eating, spending time with his family and cherished watching tv with his great-grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Rita (Roger) Richter of Mascoutah, IL; Karen (Butch Schmid) Cunningham; Susan Valadez; Sandra Chandler; Brenda Chandler; James Chandler; David (Julie Shovlin) Chandler all of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marian Weller. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Chandler; son-in-law, Mario Valadez, brothers, Donald, Gordon, and Michael Chandler; and brother-in-law, Ralph Weller. Funeral Service will be 11 am, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Calling also on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or Parkview Home, Health, and Hospice.
