Harold W. Lentz, age 92, passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born February 4, 1929, to Howard and Esther Lentz in Bay City, Michigan, Harold lived the past 31 years as a resident of Fort Wayne. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn F. (Reutter) Lentz in 2017. Harold is a veteran of the Korean War stationed in Japan after serving as a merchant marine on the Great Lakes during his high school years. He retired after over 30 years as a Dow Chemical Steam Plant Superintendent, taught boiler operations and engineering classes in a community college, and continued working post retirement into his 80's. He was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Harold loved helping everyone from family and friends to neighbors and church members. Landscaping, birdwatching, and visiting the Soo Locks were some of his favorite hobbies. He had a positive approach to life and made friends everywhere he went, including his breakfast club who met regularly at Johanna's Restaurant. Most of all he loved his Lord and his family. He is survived by his five children, Barbara (Alan) Gallatin, William (Katie) Lentz, Susan (Jeffrey) Britton, Linda (William) Valley, Katherine (Matt) Mather; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, John Lentz; and grandson, Andrew Britton. Service is 11:00 am, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11228 Coldwater Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Burial at Leo Memorial Cemetery.
