Harold E. "Sparky" Hurst, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday March 19, 2025. Harold served honorably in the United States Army from May, 08, 1971 until July 28, 1980. He was a SSgt and tank commander. He served with the 1st of the 1st 196 Light Infantry Brigade. Harold served one full tour plus a partial tour in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a past member of American Legion Post 24. Harold was a proud American who loved his country.
Harold worked for the USPS for over 20 years. He was very active in Turnstone where he made many friends. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, watching the news, looking after his animals, and attending his grandkid's games and events.
Harold is survived by his children, Angela (Christopher) Buchs, Christi (Justin) Roach, Scotty (Chris) Hurst; grandchildren, Andrew, Allyson, Cameron, Conner, Carlee, Ella, Atticus, and Gene; his siblings, Foxy (Greg) Rice, and his first wife and mother of his children, Vickie Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kandie Hurst; his parents John Hurst Jr and Clara (Jerry) Beemer; his siblings, Larry Hurst and Cheryl Coleman.
Funeral Services for Harold will take place on Wednesday March 26, 2025, at 12pm with visitation one hour prior at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday from 4-7pm also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be directed to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana or Turnstone.
