Halie Marie Nelson, 20, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Halie was the daughter of Russell and Shonda (York) Nelson. Halie graduated from Northrop High School, class of 2022. While attending Northrop, Haile was an exceptional talent in softball. Halie played travel ball for Summit City Thunder. She was a four-year member of the Northrop Show Choir. She graduated as a National Honor Society member. Halie was one of the most humble, hardworking, nicest, caring young ladies and daughter that a parent, friend, and boss could ask for. Her smile lit up every room she was in She volunteered at the DeKalb Animal Shelter and loved every moment working with animals. Halie worked as a camp counselor at Camp Red Cedar and made many friends. She was currently a hostess at Vinland Reserve Winery, where she cherished her co workers and loved the environment and opportunity to learn. Halie enjoyed reading, hanging out with her friends and caring for her dog, Bella. She was proceeded in death by her grandfather Don Nelson Surviving are her parents, Russell and Shonda Nelson; grandparents, Rose Nelson, Carolyn Trowbridge, Stevie York; step-grandpa, Gene Keyser; aunts and uncles Anne (Brad) Stevens, Nancy (John) Wilson, Red (Christina) Nelson; cousins, Noah, Nick, Izabelle, Lauryn, Zyah, Elyah, Alex, Mark, Zavia, Lily; special friends, Leps, Donyeah, Ayden, Lizzy, Soph; along with numerous other friends, and so many former teammates that meant the world to her. A Celebration of Halie's Life will be 12 noon, Thursday, May 16, 2024, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3 pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northrop High School Softball or Camp Red Cedar.
