Gloria L. Ferraguto, age 91, passed away September 23, 2026, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Boston, MA, to the late Philip and Giovanna Spataro.
Gloria graduated from Boston Girls' High School in 1952. Her yearbook says, "Meet Glo - a small girl with a big personality. This petite young miss is an excellent dancer". Glo sang with her two sisters on radio station WEEI, and they would have sung with an orchestra if it didn't interfere with Glo's studies. Her ambition is to be a good wife and mother.
She will be remembered as a prayer warrior. She kept her Bible and a notebook with prayer requests by her couch, and you would find her kneeling by the couch and praying daily.
You could count on Gloria having guests for lunch on Sundays after church. She made homemade spaghetti sauce and meat
balls, even grating the pecorino romano cheese by hand.
Gloria loved teaching Sunday School to the little ones at church. She always had a purse full of candy to share, which was a treat.
Her last job before retiring was at Market Basket bagging groceries. She chatted more than she bagged. During the Christmas season, she would dress up in holiday attire and sing Christmas carols next to the gentlemen who were collecting for the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her children, Gloria J. (Tim) Towle (nee Ferraguto) and Joseph C. Ferraguto; and grandchildren, Tricia J. (Tommy) Moore (nee Towle), David G. (Samantha) Captain, Andrea J. Preble (nee Towle), Andrew Lawrenson, Natasha (Christian) Capozzoli (nee Whitby), and William Goodwin; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Anna Giuliana and Violet Pagliuca.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Phyllis Moore, Rocco Spataro, and Charles Spataro.
