Obituary

Geraldine R. Gerig, 94, was welcomed into her heavenly home Friday, January 14th at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. She was Born in Woodburn, IN April 25, 1927 to Chris and Rose Gerig. Gerry attended the Fort Wayne Bible Institute and then graduated from nursing school in Chicago, IL. She served as a medical missionary in Sierra Leone, West Africa for 37 years. Gerry had many nieces and nephews whom she loved and prayed for every day along with their children and grandchildren. She's remembered by her loving family as the very interested and involved aunt and sister-in-law who was filled with stories of her time in Sierra Leone. She will be missed greatly.
Gerry is survived by her sister-in-law, Caroline (Perry) Gerig and eight nieces and nephews: Diana (Cleveland) Gallup, Allen Cleveland, Vicki (Cleveland) Macaluso, Kurt Gerig, Marcia (Gerig) VanGelder, LuAnn (Gerig) Fulton, Denise (Gerig) Schlueter and Douglas Gerig. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Rose Gerig, her older sister, Berdaline (Gerig) Cleveland, brother-in-law, Donald Cleveland, her twin brother, Gerald Gerig, sister-in-law, Coyla Gerig and younger brother, Donald Gerig Service is 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at First Missionary Church, 701 W.
