Obituary

George Michael Walter, aged 75, rode off into the sunset on Monday, August 5, 2024, surrounded by his family he loved with all his heart. Born in South Milwaukee, WI, George was a true and faithful Packer fan. Sunday Packer Parties at the Walter Homestead are a staple in everyone's football season. He served his country proudly in the Army spending two tours of duty in Vietnam. George's stubbornness and loyalty to those he loved was unmatched. He loved to shop yet relished a good bargain even more. His profound sweet tooth earned him the title of The Candy Man never being without bags of licorice or M&M's to share with grandkids. George prided himself in being ready to help whenever he could and possessed whatever tool, piece of wood, nut, bolt, light bulb, or battery you did not know you needed to complete the task. He enjoyed tooling around his yard in his golf cart, tending to his garden and watching his grandkids ride the numerous ATV's, go-carts and swim in the pool. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother and friend whom we will miss every day.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Toni Phillips, brother- in- law, Ted Tritch and Macy, his best bud and beloved golden retriever. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vicki, son, Todd (Cindi) Walter, son, Robert (Mandi) Walter, daughter, Amanda (Gabe) Walter- Graham, brother, Paul (Lisa) Phillips, brother, Glen (Mary) Phillips, sister, Sandy Tritch, 6 grandkids, 8 great- grandkids, 5 nephews and 3 nieces. Service is 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 6557 North Clinton Street, with calling 3 hours prior beginning at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
