George D. Rongos, 87 passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 57 years and family on October 16, 2022. George was born on February 15, 1935, in the village of Polykerasos, Kastoria, Greece. He first immigrated to the United States in 1954 and began working at Joslyn Steel in 1955. He then married Eleni Mangos in 1965 and they started their pursuit towards their version of the American Dream focused on family, faith, and hard work. Before his retirement in 1985 from Joslyn, he had a dream to own his own business, so he purchased a small grocery store on Taylor Street which became Georges International Grocery.

George and his family were active members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Since he was young, he had a love for music. He played multiple instruments and enjoyed playing Greek music with his children in the family band. He also enjoyed traveling back to Greece to visit his family and friends.

George was a friend to so many and an idol to his children and grandchildren. He, his loving wife, and family had a dream and they lived it.
