George Britton Lord Jr, 90, of Fort Wayne passed away on Tuesday June 3rd, 2025 with his family by his side. George was a life long resident of Fort Wayne. He was a charter member of Grace Brethren Church. George worked at GTE for 31 years where he held various positions. He enjoyed woodworking and home improvement projects, camping, attending church conferences with family and friends. George traveled throughout the US and over seas, and spent his winters in Texas. He was a quiet man with a strong faith, and he loved to tease.
George is survived by his son, Vernon (Renee) Lord; daughters, Vicki (David) Milyard, Kelly (Jeff) Wilcoxson, and Beth (Louis) Nemec; son-in-law Dennis Hayes; grandchildren, Crystal (Justin) Heminger, Zachary (Erin) Lord, Aaron (Brittany) Milyard, Micah Stephanie) Milyard, Isaac (Cassandra Thomas) Milyard, Philip Milyard, Emily Hoffman, Jako Nemec, and Josiah Nemec; 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Jean Lord; and daughter Kathleen Lord-Hayes.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 14th 2025 at 3pm with visitation beginning at 1pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. A private burial service was held at Covington Memorial Gardens.
Preferred memorials may be directed to Heritage Point of Fort Wayne or Heartland Hospice.
