George Robert Liggett, 89, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Angola, Indiana, George was a son of the late Forest and Marvel Liggett. George served our country in the U.S. Army. He started working on cars at the age of 14 and continued his career as a mechanic and owner of George's Auto Repair in Fort Wayne. George loved being outdoors, working on his property, watching NASCAR, but most importantly spending time with his family. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Patty Liggett; children, George (Mel) Liggett Jr., Greg Liggett, Lisa (Mike) Hause, Bill (Travis) Liggett; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Sara) Liggett, Alice Mabry, and Barbara Koskie. George was preceded in death by his siblings, Everett Liggett, Sr., Phyllis Castle, Pat Hoopengardner, Eleanor Bellis, Roberta Ebert, Emmett Liggett, and Kenneth Liggett. A Celebration of George's Life will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with gathering time from 1 pm until the service. Memorials may be made to Parkview Home, Health, and Hospice.
