Geneva G. Hammond, age 85, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at her home in Fort Wayne. She was born in Decatur, IL, to the late Perry and Mattie Summers. Geneva worked for over 46 years at the Fort Wayne State Hospital as a beautician, CNA, and nursing assistant.

Geneva was a farm-girl at heart, and loved to spend time with her family in Southern Indiana. She married F. Darrell Hammond on January 7, 1956, and moved to Fort Wayne the next day. She loved all of her kids, the ones she gave birth to, and the ones she didn't. She was known as someone who loved to feed anyone who wanted something to eat, and for her specialty dish: spaghetti and cheese. She loved to drive her convertible around town with the top down, and play pull-tabs.

Geneva is survived by her children, Vickie (Steve Ries) Hunt, Pam (Marty) Herr, and Junior (Brenda) Hammond all of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her brother, Herman Summers of Miltown, IN.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, F. Darrell Hammond; son, Darren Hammond; daughter, Dana Hammond; one granddaughter, Alexandria Herr; and two sisters.

Service is 11:00 am, Monday, February 5, 2024 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. with calling one hour prior. Calling also 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
