Frank H. Gentry, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Fort Wayne. Born in Chicago, Illinois Frank was a son of the late L.L. "Chuck" and Virginia (Cripe) Gentry. Frank earned his Bachelor's Degree in Zoology from Indiana University. He was coined as the "Godfather of Rock" in Fort Wayne, for his night clubs and bringing live bands to the city. He owned and operated several nightclubs in Indiana and Michigan. Frank's love for music spread into his personal life as he enjoyed singing and playing guitar with "Up With People" and with local bands in Warsaw and Fort Wayne. He was very active and enjoyed playing volleyball and tennis. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Gentry; children, Leslie (Corrado) Ricci, Kelly (Chuck) Fridrich; step-children, Matthew (Nichole) Reichenbacher, Joshua (Meghan) Hahn; 9 grandchildren; and siblings, Paul (Julie) Gentry and Ginger Sayre. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Gentry. A Celebration of Frank's Life will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Service, with calling from 1 pm until the services. Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control.
