Obituary

Esther Gladys Kersjes, 91, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Esther was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothea (Wenzel) Hartman. Esther earned her Associates Degree from Aquinas College. She married Robert Kersjes on April 30, 1955. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and caring grandma to her family. Esther was a big advocate for Home Economics. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling with her husband on business trips and for leisure, along with taking care and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven. Surviving are her children; Scott Kersjes, Sheila (Mike) Wiltshire, Sharon Kersjes; grandchildren, Rob (Clara) Wiltshire, Natasha (Ryan) Kersjes-Johnson, Nanette Kersjes and Elizabeth Wiltshire. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kersjes; siblings, Lucille Vadeboncoeur, Joseph and Eugene Hartman. Mass of Christian Resurrection will be 11 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street New Haven, with calling one hour prior. Burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Monastery Immaculate Conception, 802 E. 10th Street, Ferdinand, IN 47532. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
