Erle William Hodge, 68, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. Born in Marion, Indiana, Erle was a son of the late Dale Hodge and Mary Price. Erle graduated from Marion High School, class of 1974 and from the Ironworker Local 147 Apprenticeship class of 1979. He met the love of his life when he was just 12 years of age in a treehouse. He married that girl he met, Vickie Heiser on December 19, 1981 and enjoyed a wonderful 42 years of marriage together. They moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1989. He worked for Martin Enterprises in Fort Wayne for 30 years, prior to joining Teamsters Local 414. He retired from G&L Corporation in Fort Wayne on September of 2022. He was affectionately referred to as Pap Erle by his 3 grandsons. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed fishing, bowling, attending his grandsons athletic events over the years, and vacationing at his favorite spot in Ana Maria Island, FL. He was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. Erle is survived by his wife, Vickie; sons, Shane (Amy) Harris, Erle James Hodge; grandsons, Blade (Lina) Harris, Cooper Harris, Chance Harris; brother-in-law, James K. (Jerry Blakely) Heiser and sister-in-law, Deborah J. Hester. Erle was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, George Price; brother, Dale S. Hodge; mother-in-law, Emma Jean Hullinger and father-in-law, James Heiser. A Celebration of Erle's Life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Parkview Home, Health, and Hospice.
