Obituary

Edwin DeWayne “Ed” Roberts passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at age 85, surrounded by his loving family. Known as “Ed” to family and friends and affectionately called “Eddie” by his late wife and soulmate, Carolyn, he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her.

Born in Pendleton, Indiana, in 1940, Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather and brother. He was strong of character, had an amazing work ethic, and was an example of what hard work and steadfast support could accomplish in building a life for his family. Ed had a warm, gentle spirit and a smile that put others at ease. He welcomed anyone who came to his home, often insisting they relax and enjoy a drink.

Ed’s faith in God guided him throughout his life; he even tucked his cash inside his Bible. He patiently taught both of his daughters how to drive, built a two‑story garage for their first home, and frequently repaired the family’s cars. For more than 40 years, he delivered milk to homes, restaurants, and schools for Allen Dairy (later Prairie Farms). After retiring, he and Carolyn settled in St. Augustine, Florida, where he spent his days fishing, walking the beach, riding his bike, and enjoying pecan waffles, chocolate‑covered donuts, and ice cream.

He is survived by his daughters, Tanya Roberts and Katina (Mark) Petroff; granddaughters, Amber (Vince) Konwinski, Ashley (Aaron) Wilson, Andrea (Dennis) Roberts, and Noelle Petroff; and great‑grandchildren, Jackson Konwinski, Alexander Konwinski, and Avery Wilson. Ed is also survived by his siblings, Ken (Soo) Roberts, Terri (Bob) Lake, Sandy (Roy) Ulch, Ron (Holli) Roberts, and Connie (Ken) Furlong; and was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Eastes), his son, Darren Roberts, his parents, Kenneth and Rose (Indrecc) Roberts, and his brother, Richard Roberts.

In memory of Ed, his family encourages everyone to spend time with those they love and go out for ice cream. Maybe even go fishing.
