Edward "Ed" Pelak, 73, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Detroit, MI. Born in Detroit, he was the son of the late John and Angeline Pelak. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven where he served as an usher for many years. He retired in 2006 from Chrysler after 39 years of service, where he was known as "Indiana Ed". Family was very important to him. He loved to socialize and enjoy life. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is dancing in Heaven with Leona.
He is survived by his children, Michele (Steve) Stopinski, Deb (Dan) Tempel, Deanna Pelak and Jason (Amanda) Pelak; eleven grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Brett, Chelsea (Sean), Evan, Chandler, Carsyn, Colbey, Adriana, Cheyenne, and Brennon; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Cruz and Mia and siblings, Joann McHarg, Christine Silisavage, Lorraine Pelak, Kathy Pelak-Reggio, Joseph, John, Daniel, Jim, Michael and Philip; and loving extended family including many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Leona in 2008 and siblings, Tom, Carol, and sister Barbara Jean.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1.p.m. Saturday January 28, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St. New Haven with calling one hour prior. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to masses.
