Edith Kierstead, 86, passed away quietly at home on December 17, 2020. Edith was born in Athol, Kansas to Karl and Freida Hoehner on August 28, 1934. A graduate of Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, Kansas, she met her husband, Dick Kierstead, while attending Concordia University of Nebraska. Edith taught at various Lutheran and public schools in Nebraska and in the Fort Wayne area. Later she was a sales associate at Macy's. She is survived by her spouse, Dick; son, Timothy (Lisa) of Phoenixville, PA; two daughters, Lynne (Mink) Sutaphong of Fort Wayne, and Jackie Kierstead of Dayton, OH; brother, Ken Hoehner of Wheatridge, CO; and four grandchildren, Carli Kierstead, Nathan Sutaphong, Eva Kierstead, and Carmen Kierstead. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Kierstead; brother, Leroy; sister, Marjorie; and grandson Ty Sutaphong. A private graveside funeral with family only will be held at Concordia Cemetery Gardens with Pastor Mark Neubacher officiating.
