Douglas Lee Gillenwater, 66, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Doug was a son of the late Walter Wayne and Thelma Lorene (Harvey) Gillenwater. He graduated from New Haven High School. He was a truck driver during his working career for several companies. On Doug's perfect day, he would be outdoors gardening or tending to his property, being with his wife and family, and probably playing with fire. Surviving are his wife of 14 years, April Gillenwater; sons, Brandon and Chad Gillenwater; several grandchildren; brother, Mark (Jackie) Gillenwater; along with nieces, nephews and extended family members. Doug was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter "Butch" Gillenwater, and David Gillenwater. Private Family Services. Memorials may be made to Humane Fort Wayne or Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
