Dorothy Jean Konow, 90, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021. Born on the family farm in Hoagland, Indiana, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Herman and Christina Mailand. She graduated from Hoagland High School, class of 1949. Dorothy absolutely loved her job of 29 years as a school bus driver. After her career with Fort Wayne Lutheran Schools and Fremont Community Schools she retired in 2003. Dorothy was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and was for many years active in several church choirs. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing euchre, and UNO, square dancing, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Donald Konow; children, David (Tonya) Konow, Daniel (Julia) Konow, Susan Schible, Michele (William) Brothers, Mark Konow; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eugene (Shirley) Mailand, and Anita Stock. Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Young, Wilmer "Bud" Mailand; and in laws, James Stock, and James Young. Service is 11 am, Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Ascension Lutheran Church with calling one hour prior. Calling also at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran School or Heartland Hospice.
