Doris Mae Leeper, age 94, of Grabill, IN passed away peacefully at The Cedars on Friday, August 23rd, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born September 15, 1929 in Fort Wayne to the late Vernon and Esther Ritzius. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) R. Leeper, her brother, Warren Ritzius and her first husband, Maurice 'Doc' Vernon Krebs.

Doris was a graduate of Ketterlinus High School in St. Augustine, FL in 1947. She also attended Southside High School in Fort Wayne, IN before moving with her parents to St. Augustine. After the passing of her first husband, she found love again with Robert R. Leeper who was also a widower. Together, they blended their families, uniting their children and building a family on July 10, 1971. They were faithful members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 40+ years. Bob and her enjoyed taking long road trips and wintered for many years in Florida. They also enjoyed Euchre Club with their friends. Doris was a devoted member of The Cedar Creek Women's Club with her dear friend, Carole Weilbaker-Ivins.

In her professional years, Doris was a librarian - which led to a lifetime love of reading. She also spent time working at Lincoln Life, Central Soya and as the President of the American Cancer Society (Fort Wayne).

One of Doris's best qualities was her ability to have a meaningful conversation. She had a remarkable gift for listening and engaging with others, always making people feel heard and valued. She could take a joke with the best of them. Her greatest treasure was her family.

Doris is survived by her sons, Dan (Lisa) Leeper of Grabill, Dean Leeper of Harlan and Robert Leeper Jr. of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kay (Todd) Shock of Hicksville, ОН; grandchildren, Haley (Colin) Biggs, Daniel (Stephanie) Leeper and Kristine (Dave) Richardson, Nicole (Nick) Yoder and Kailey (Jesse) Reid; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Service is 11:00 am, Friday, August 30, 2024 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. with calling two hours prior beginning at 9:00 am. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens after.
