Donna Jane Bair, 90, died peacefully at home in Fort Wayne, Indiana surrounded by her family on Friday, February 16, 2024. Donna was born in Decatur, Indiana and married her Decatur High School sweetheart, George Bair Jr. Donna was a cheerleader and George a basketball and football star. They had three children, and they were the light of Donna's life. The light got even brighter when Donna had grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna loved being around children and was mother and grandmother to all. Donna was a cheerful, happy soul. She loved to dance and was known to "cut a rug" at family weddings. She was even able to tap her feet to music in her very last days. Donna loved clothes, makeup and always looked like a million dollars, rarely leaving the house without lipstick. Donna attended International Business College and worked at several businesses as an executive secretary, ultimately retiring from Raytheon (Magnavox). Donna was also a Mary Kay Consultant and earned a car. In retirement Donna quietly volunteered in a variety of settings including her church, The Chapel.
Donna's husband died young leaving her to finish raising their children on her own and she did so with class, dignity, and boundless love. Donna is survived by her children, George (Becky) Bair, Mike (Mary Jo) Bair, and Jane Bair Munk (Dalen); sister, Marilyn Duling; grandchildren, Gabe (Jen) Parrish, Katie (Taylor) Baughman, Kelly Haber, Amy (Wesley) Herron, Nancy (Cody) Gordon, Ethan Bair, AJ (Taylor) Herron, Allison (Adam) Stamp, Bradley (Kristen) Frane, Candace (Joseph) Norris, and Morgan Bair; great-grandchildren, Brodie, Addi, Claire, Brooklyn, Grady, Annabelle, Sloane, Isaac, Waylon, Colt, Norah, Grayson, Jackson, Joseph, Benjamin, Kevin, Peyton, Elizabeth, Leiah, Samuel, and Amara.
We will miss Donna's love, sense of humor, and ability to communicate even without words. A special thanks to all her thoughtful, compassionate, and dedicated caregivers from her Home Instead family and her ridiculously talented and kind Heart to Heart Hospice family. You made the end of her life a treasure.
