Devon Ray Hovis, 22, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Fort Wayne, where he was born. Devon was a true nature man. You could find him outside fishing, hunting, and catching all sorts of creatures from fish to snakes. He loved his dogs and cruising in his car with his windows down, feeling the breeze. Although he loved being outdoors, he would rather be outdoors with those he loved. Whether it was trying to outfish his dad and grandpa or hunting for critters with his family and friends, he loved his family dearly. Devon was always the life of the party and had a gift of drawing people together. Everywhere he went, he made new friends and found connections with people. His legacy of fun and love will be carried on through his many family and friends, including his dear Jaxson, whom he loved very much. Devon is survived by his son, Jaxson Hovis; mother, Ashley Gordon; father, Benjamin Hovis; stepmother, Lori Dollarhide; fiancée, Kyra Collins; daughter, Valery; siblings, Alexas, Emily, Riley, Lanie, Ethan, and Brantley; paternal grandparents, Anthony and Suzan Hovis; maternal grandparents, Laura Gordon and John Melton; Jaxon's mother, Carissa Rassi; plus many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A public visitation will take place at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN, 46825) from 5-9 pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. A funeral service will take place the following day on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Fairhaven Funeral Home at noon, with calling from 11 am until the service. Memorials in honor of Devon may be given to the family in the care of Ashley Gordon and Benjamin Hovis.
