Obituary

Detta K. Gass , 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born in Fulton, Indiana, Detta was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen (Pownall) Gault. She was recruited straight out of high school to work for the FBI as an administrator in Washington DC. During her working years, she also contributed her talents at several companies to include Zimmer in Warsaw, served the City of Fort Wayne as their claims administrator, and later became a business owner with Jim Gass, operating their own printing company, GoldenRod Printing.

Detta was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, shopping, and ballroom dancing, and she treasured the moments spent with her family and friends.

Surviving are her step-children, Sherri (Gail Hartman) Brugh, Serena (Andy) Marczak, Tim (Tammy) Gass, Herb (Jana) Gass, and Jenny (Chris) Peacock; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her companion, Doug Grandstaff; niece, Dawn (Leaonard) Gagnon; and nephews, Brian, Jeff, and Kent Gault.

Detta was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gass; children, Lena J. Harrison-Dean and Bennett L. Harrison; and brothers, Don and David Gault.

A Celebration of Detta's Life will be at 3 pm, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana. A private burial will take place at Fulton Cemetery.
