Debra "Deb" Kunkle MSN, RN, 60, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 19, 1958. She graduated from Heritage High School. She continued her education at Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing where she met the love of her life W. Barry Kunkle and they shared 39 years of marriage. Deb earned her Bachelors in Nursing from Purdue University and her Masters in Nursing from Western Governors University. Deb worked for Lutheran Health Network for 40 years. Her accomplishments as a Clinical Nurse-Stroke Specialist were instrumental in the success of the Comprehensive Stroke Center both certification and continued growth at Lutheran Hospital. Her passion for her work was evident, always challenging the norm and researching for the latest evidence to support nursing practices. Deb had a great passion for mentoring others. She enjoyed reading, riding her bicycle, flowers, and a good glass of red wine. Surviving are her husband, W. Barry Kunkle; parents, Richard and Donna Scheumann; children, Aaron (Katelyn) Kunkle, Janna (Chad) Byers, Caitlin (Kyle) Sattison; 2 grandchildren on the way; siblings, Mark (Rhonda) Scheumann, Kirk (Theresa) Scheumann; sister-in-law, Pam (Joe) Brita; and 9 nieces and nephews. Service is 12 pm, Monday, June 10, 2019 at Concordia Lutheran Church with calling one hour prior. Calling will be at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 12 pm to 6 pm. Entombment will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
