Deborah Sue (Menke) Sowles, 73, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at home with family by her side. Deborah was born May 15, 1951, to the late Wanda Helberg and John Menke. She graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School in 1969 and then went on to receive her Master Beauty Culturist License. She married Walter "Butch" Langley on November 20th, 1971, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, and they had 2 sons, Shane Allen and Michael John. She later moved to Tahlequah, OK, and married her second husband, Lloyd Sowles, on February 17, 2003. She resided there until 2020, when she returned to Fort Wayne to be with family. Together they built and ran the Liberty Speedway and mini golf in Tahlequah. Deb had a love for animals, especially her cats and ponies. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing, and cross-stitch. Some of her fondest memories were being around the Follis family farm as a young child growing up. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Adrienne Langley, and only grandchild, Maddux Wright of Fort Wayne. One sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Diane Deathe of Decatur, IN. One brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Vicki Menke of Savanah, GA, along with 4 nieces, 4 nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her well-loved cats, Gizmo and Molly. She was preceded in death by her son Shane Allen Langley, mother Wanda Helberg, stepfathers Roland Helberg and Donald Creigh, and father John Menke. A memorial service will be held in Deb's honor at noon on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street) with calling two hours prior from 10 am until the service at noon. Preferred memorials to go to Humane Fort Wayne.
