Deborah "Debbie" Gordy, 68, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Fort Wayne after a valiant fight against breast cancer for over two years. She was born in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Rosemary Cottrell. Debbie served the community as a registered nurse for over 30 years at Parkview and other hospitals. Some of her hobbies included bird watching, gardening, and quilting. She enjoyed watching movies and spent a lot of time traveling all over the world. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking and her Christmas decorating skills. She set an example of serving others and was a friend to many, getting along with so many people. She loved her family and her grandkids dearly. Deborah is survived by her husband, Jon Gordy; children, Elizabeth Gordy, Dana (Justin) Books, and Tyler (Megan) Gordy; grandchildren, Maverick, Logan, Camilla, and Scarlett; sister, Jackie (Alan) Goodman, and Arthur (Jackie) Cottrell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Cottrell. A public visitation will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street) from 5-7pm. A funeral service will take place at 11am on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Fairhaven Funeral Home, with calling from 10am until the service. A burial will take place following the service at Bowers Cemetery.
