Debbie Jean Whitfield, 63, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 in New Haven, IN. She was born in Des Moines, IA to the late Donald and Nellie Pettit. She worked at several local retail stores and restaurants. Debbie will be remembered for the love and care she showed her family. She is survived by her significant other, Wilbert Shelby of Fort Wayne; children, Dakota (Victor) Contreras of Berne, IN and Carl (Rhonda Blazer-Haus) Haus of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Artus Folck of New Haven, IN, Peggy (Larry) Cole of Fort Wayne, Donald Pettit of New Haven, IN, Daniel Pettit of New Haven, IN. Debbie was also preceded in death by her sister, Barb Whitfield. A memorial cookout will be held 2pm on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the home of her sister, Peggy.
