David A. Eicher, 84, of Ossian, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday June 22,2023. Dave was born in India to missionary parents, Albert and Artimese Eicher. He loved India and her peoples. Having been born in India to American citizens, he got to choose his country of citizenship, any of the British Commonwealth countries or the USA and he gratefully chose America. He graduated from South Side High School and Fort Wayne Bible College. Dave worked for GE, Harvester, Lutheran Hospital and Golden Years, he also pastored Missionary Churches in Hicksville, OH, and Rehoboth in rural Albion, IN. Dave and wife Barbara, served as missionaries in Sierra Leone, West Africa. He had many exciting adventures, but his most treasured was when he led people to The Lord.
Dave is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Sprunger Eicher; sons, Bruce (Kristina) Eicher, and Tim (Julie) Eicher; grandchildren, Ian (Taylor), Ellery, Kaylee, and Evangeline Eicher; sisters, Ann Welty and Catherine Eicher. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will take place at Avalon Missionary Church, 1212 Lower Huntington Road, on July 26th at 4 pm with memorial visitation from 10-12 and 2-4 pm A private burial was held at Prairie View Cemetery in Tocsin. Preferred memorials may be directed to Stillwater Hospice or Eicher House Ministries.
