David Lee Abbott, 82, passed away on June 8, 2025. He was born on October 22, 1942, in Garrett, Indiana to the late Vernon and Frances (Johnson) Abbott. David was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 451, American Legion Post 178, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and USS Enterprise Assoc. CVN-65.
He graduated from Garrett High School in 1960 and spent four-and-a-half years in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Enterprise during the Cuban Crisis and the start of the Vietnam War. He traveled around the world and was on several continents. David worked for over 35 years for Multigraphics.
He married his wife, Rozann Schenher in 1969, who survives him. Also surviving is his daughter, Christine (Richard) Wright of Zionsville, IN; and four grandchildren, Katie, Derek, Carson, and Caleb Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Abbott; and sister-in-law, Edith (Schnelker) Abbott.
A public visitation will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5-8pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN). A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11am on Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, located on the corner of Reed and Trier Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815, with visitation one hour prior. A Burial at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, in Ege, Indiana will take place at a later date.
Preferred memorial contributions may be made for Masses to St. Charles, or American Cancer Society.
