Darren W. McDowell, 59, of New Haven, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026. He was born to Judith Ann (Sarrazin) and the late Robert Nolan McDowell on September 3, 1967 in Fort Wayne. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1985. Growing up he played baseball and his nickname was “Wheels.” Throughout his career, Darren procured military equipment for the government and most recently worked for GovParts LLC. He was an avid sports fan and his TV always had a game on. Darren traveled to a multitude of various sporting events. His favorite teams were the OU Football, OU Baseball, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Georgia Basketball.

Darren is survived by his son, Todd (Desiree) McDowell; grandchildren, Trevor and Delaney; mother, Judith McDowell; siblings, Carolyn McDowell, Robert McDowell, Leeanne (Eugene) Robinson, and Rick (Emily) McDowell; significant other, Susan Scott; and great-uncles, Bonnie Anders, Connie (John) Baker, Helen “Haddie” Conner and Wayne (Bonnie) Sarrazin; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his father, Darren was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Trey McDowell; siblings, Judith “Pip” McDowell and Marty McDowell; great-aunts and great-uncles, Robert Sarrazin and Sherman Sarrazin.

Funeral service will be on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825) with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm until the time of service.
