Daniel B. Long, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Dan was born in South Whitley to the late, Beryl and June Long. Dan worked at GE for a short time before committing himself to working as a farmer maintaining the family farm. In retirement he worked for Whitley Mobile Homes.
Dan enjoyed snowmobiling, water skiing, fishing, and visits to Mackinac Island. He loved his family and will be missed until we will be reunited again in Heaven.
Dan had a strong faith in Christ and worshipped as a longtime member of First Church of God in Columbia City, and most recently The Chapel where he served on the Senior Connect Leadership Team.
He is survived by his wife, Bettyann Long; children, Tim (Lisa) Long, Annette (Kevin) Kinnison, Lisa (Paul) Neuman, and Shannon (Jim) Layton; 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Barb Long in 2010.
A funeral service will be held on Monday September 14th at 12pm with calling beginning 2 hours prior, all at the Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Rd. Burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery.
