Curlis Hicks Sr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in Fort Wayne. Born in Kentucky, Curlis was a son of the late Ezra and Polly (Combs) Hicks. Curlis spent 44 hard working years at Fort Wayne Foundry and Ward Corporation until his retirement. You could often find Curlis out in his garage working on cars. He had a love of cars and passed that passion down to his family. Family time was precious to Curlis that he soaked up each moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his children, J.R. (Jackie) Hicks, Tina (Todd Easterwood) Lano, Jessica (Chris Duke) Smith all of Fort Wayne; 7 grandchildren, Jeni Hicks, Ron (Sasha) Hicks, Brandyn (Brittney) Hicks, Kaela (Austin) Hyland, Lacie Lano, Madysen Smith, and Chase Smith; 21 great-grandchildren. Curlis was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Hicks; 6 brothers; and 7 sisters. A Celebration of Curlis's Life will be 5 pm, Saturday, February 15, 2025 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 3 pm until the service. Following the service there will be a continuted Celebration of Curlis's Life at the VFW, 2202 W. Main Street, from 6 pm to 10 pm.
