Cord, born on November 12, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. His life was a testament to resilience, love and the joy of forging meaningful connections.

Cord proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserves, embodying the values of honor and duty throughout his life. His career in the wine industry saw him excel in numerous sales and consulting roles, where his charisma and extensive knowledge left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

His passion for automobiles led him to become an active member of the local Ford Mustang Club, where he was cherished for his enthusiasm and camaraderie. Cord also dedicated many years as an Indycar Official within the CART and USAC organization, contributing his organizational skills and keen eye for detail to the world of motorsport.

Known for his quick wit and the ability to make friends wherever he went, Cord brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, leaving indelible memories with those fortunate enough to have known him.

Cord is survived by his loving children, Chad and Drake Lewton, who were his pride and joy. His legacy lives on through them, as well as in the countless lives he touched with his kindness and humor.

In honor of Cord’s life and his valiant fight against cancer, the family kindly request that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, National Home Office, in Atlanta, GA.
