Chrys Ann Kurtz, 80, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Oakland, California, Chrys was a daughter of the late Derald “Pete” and Doris (Furnish) Yoder.
Chrys was a graduate of Leo High School. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Kurtz, and together they shared more than 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2022. Side by side, Chrys and Bob owned and operated Kurtz Excavating for 43 years, building not only a successful business but a life grounded in hard work and partnership.
Chrys had a love for learning and discovery. She was an avid reader and an exceptional genealogist, dedicating countless hours to researching and preserving her family’s history. Above all, she cherished time with her family—especially her grandsons—and held dear the many winters spent in Fort Myers Beach, creating lasting memories.
She is survived by her son, Brad (Mindy) Kurtz; grandsons, Alex, Jacob, Caleb, and Ethan Kurtz; daughter, Sara Cordell, her “Norwegian daughter,” Christine Wigaard (Espen); and her beloved Japanese Chin, Mr. Miyagi.
Chrys was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bob Kurtz.
A private family service will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
