Obituary

Carl D. Castetter, 58, of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on January 11, 2025, following an extended and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 9, 1966, in Everett, Massachusetts, Carl was the son of the late Carl D. Castetter Sr. and Marie Pollicelli (Palmerini).

Carl grew up in Boston, where his love for the city's sports culture became one of his greatest joys in life. A devoted fan of all Boston teams, the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins, he embraced being a fan wholeheartedly. Carl had an impressive collection of Boston sports memorabilia, from shirts and hats to even shoes adorned with the logos of his beloved teams. He took immense pride in representing Boston sports wherever he went, and his enthusiasm was infectious. Whether celebrating a big win or staying loyal through tough seasons, he embodied the true spirit of a Boston sports fan.

Over the past decade, Carl lived in Indiana with his beloved companion, Lisa. He became a significant part of her family, embracing her children, grandchildren, and many other relatives. He found peace in his new life, where he enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of his cat, Balakai, and the family dog, Jade, both of whom provided him with great comfort.

Carl was a dedicated regional manager in retail, known for his hard work, intuition, and commitment. He built strong relationships with colleagues and clients, and his success was a reflection of his perseverance and dedication to excellence. Carl's outgoing personality, spirited nature, and remarkable ability to remember names, faces, and details made everyone around him feel valued and seen. He was also known for maintaining deep and meaningful connections with loved ones, often reaching out daily to friends and family across the U.S. to stay in touch and nurture those lifelong relationships, regardless of the distance.

At the cancer center where he received care, Carl made an unforgettable impact. With his larger-than-life personality, warm humor, and trademark Dunkin' coffee in hand, he formed lasting friendships with staff, patients, and caregivers alike. Even in the face of his illness, Carl brought joy and laughter to even the toughest days, brightening the lives of those around him.

Above all else, Carl was blessed to be a father. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Carlee Castetter, of Newton, Massachusetts, who was the light of his life. Carlee brought him endless pride and joy and he always carried unwavering love and admiration for her.

Carl's memory is one of love, connection, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

A Celebration of Carl's life will take place in his home state of Massachusetts at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's honor may be made to a local animal shelter or cancer center.
