In Loving Memory of Beverle Shumaker
Beverle Shumaker, 91, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living, Fort Wayne. She was born on October 15, 1933, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to the late Gerald and Monica Barlow.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dean Shumaker. Beverle was a devoted wife for 61 years. She was a loving sister to Sharon Craig, Gary (Cheryl) Barlow, Philip (Margaret) Barlow, Ruth Ann (Wayne) Hamilton, and Stephen and the proud mother of three children: Deana Davis of Fort Wayne, Bob Shumaker of Kokomo, and Kristi Norris of Huntertown. She was also the cherished grandmother of ten: Angela Jacquay (Jarah), Danielle, Beau (Kelly), Luke (Kristen), Chelsie, Noah (Madeline), Alexis Warner (Jon), Isaiah (Lauren), Jonah, and Mackenzie Blevins (Lucas) and the adored great-grandmother of thirteen: Jude, Mark, Caroline, Remy, Camille, Zelie, Julien, Dean, Drew, Emery, Zehr, Lane, and Ozra.
As a prayer warrior and faithful follower of Jesus, Beverle left behind a legacy of strong faith. She listened to Moody Bible Institute online weekly and attended The Chapel for 24 years. Beverle enjoyed studying scritpure and worshipping through songs/hymns. Her profound wisdom and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on her family.
Beverle will be remembered for her steadfast faith, strength, generosity, and love for her family. Whether it was through her home-cooked meals, her wise words, or the simple comfort of her presence, she touched the lives of many. Her memory will be carried on by her family and friends, who will forever cherish the lessons she imparted and the love she so freely gave.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 North Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN, 46825) with calling hours beginning at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Moody Bible Institute (
