Obituary

Beth Schiebel, 86, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side. Beth lived a fulfilling life serving students in public schools and at her dance studio. Graduating from Ball State with a master's in education, Beth taught 1st grade at Francis Slocum and Glenwood Park Elementary schools. Her greatest passion, however, was teaching tap dance to students at her business, Northeast School of Dance, where she was the owner and a teacher from 1962 until 2010. Even after selling her studio, she stayed on as a dance teacher for more than a decade. During her time as a dance teacher, she brought joy to thousands of students, endearing her to generations of families as "Mrs. Schiebel" or "Miss Beth". Many of her competition
groups were winners in national contests, as her choreography was often complex and challenging, but her students always stepped up to her high expectations because of the loving manner in which she taught. When her beloved husband Mike passed in 2012, Beth returned to education as a paraprofessional at Bunche Montessori and then at Kids on the Go. Beth always seemed to be in motion, and she was fiercely independent, wanting to do everything herself. She continued working four days a week, mowing her yard, and walking her special companion dog Bella until she was 85 years of age. As she and her husband did for their own children, she continued to attend the sporting events and dance competitions of her grandchildren and took great pleasure in visiting her new great granddaughter. Many of her former dance students now share stories of how she inspired them to be the best versions of themselves. Beth created a legacy of love for so many people.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mike; her fiancé, Carl Warford; brother John; parents Ray and Myrle Ingermann; grandparents Clarence and Dee Ingermann and Flo Del Clay and Harrison Ross.
Surviving are her son, Matt and his wife Renee; son Christopher Scott Schiebel; daughter Michele and wife Lynn; grandchildren Lauren, Andrew, Gage, Jaxson, Gordie, Charlotte, and Grace, and great granddaughter, Estelle. Sisters in law Sarah Rodgers and Pam Ingermann, niece Brooke Rodgers, along with several other nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N Clinton, on Friday, August 21 from 12-8pm. Services will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 6600 Trier Road, on Saturday, August 22nd at 10am.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, Beth's family encourages donations to the non-profit, Blessings In A Backpack, a program that provides weekend meals for low-income students.
